Green Smoothie for Starters

The green smoothie obviously does not look that beautiful compared to the previous smoothies I showed you (like here and here). But the fact is that blending vegetables has so many health benefits which I am sure all of you know. So I started making green smoothies on and off for several years. Usually I start around this time of the year to get extra ready for bikini season. However, making green smoothies throughout the year would be better due to its health benefits. So let’s see how long I will be able to continue this time. ;)

For those who are not used to making green smoothies I wanted to offer a recipe for starters. Basically, what I did is making a fruit smoothie and adding some vegetables in it. In this way you can gradually get used to the taste of greens and slowly build up the amount of greens you put into your blender. And soon I will show you a real green smoothie recipe that still tastes delicious. But first lets start with this one! :)

What you need:
1 Mango
1 Pear
A few strawberries

The sweetness of the strawberries, pear and mango will give you the time to get used to the taste of vegetables like spinach. If you have done this several times you can try to put more spinach or even some kale in your smoothie. You will see that you have gotten used to the taste. Which will be great for the next smoothie recipe which is truly green :)

      Starting a few times a week. Then if possible every morning. Great way to start the day.

    Not much of a green smoothie if the only vegetables used are spinach and mint. And not to mention the amount of fruits used here. Fruits have fructose which is sugar in simple terms. This smoothie is loaded with sugar. For a green smoothie, you need to start with a cucumber and celery base and then add other vegetables. Sure fruits have benefits but the bad effects of sugar out weigh the benefits if you consume this much. Hope this helps.

    Is that Kale? (the larger bunch of greens on the plate) I know I shouldn’t second guess you because it is your blog but I don’t see spinach in this….it looks a lot like kale!!! Anyway kale is good in smoothies and juices too :)
